Callander in Scotland is the Gateway to The Trossachs and also to Rob Roy Country. Through the Rob Roy Country website the Loch Earn Tourism Initiative, LETI, based in the Callander area in Central Scotland, provides Scottish Tourist Information and is a guide to help visitors to plan for a Scottish vacation in Perthshire, Stirlingshire and The Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park in Scotland. The post office at Lochearnhead and the Folklore Centre at Killin are also information centres for the Scottish Tourist; most holiday accommodation owners provide the guest with visitor information, guides, books and leaflets. Loch Earn Tourism Initiative members offer Scottish self catering holiday accommodation in holiday rental cottages, catered bed and breakfast accommodation, family run B&B, hotels - some with four poster beds - and farmhouse holiday accommodation, vacation lets, burnside farm cottages,lochside holiday cottages,vacation condos, holiday rentals in timber lodges and chalets,self catering cabins, lochside log cabin vacation homes, riverside cabins, campsites and caravan sites for touring and static caravans, camper vans and mobile homes for your Scottish Holiday in the area between Stirling and Perth, including Callander, near the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park. The Rob Roy MacGregor visitor Centre is in Callander. This small Scottish town, someimes incorrectly spelled, Callender, was the home of the popular fictional Dr Finlay,of Doctor Finlay's Casebook fame. It is in Rob Roy Country in the area of Central Scotland, in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, on the Perthshire and Stirlingshire border, including Lochearnhead, Balquhidder, Strathyre, St Fillans, Killin, Callander, Crieff, Comrie, Stirling and Perth. Loch Earn is at the eastern edge of highland Perthshire on the Stirlingshire border. Lochearnhead, with its watersports centre, is at the western end of Loch Earn and St Fillans with a golf course, waterside hotels, chalets, caravans and riverside cabins vacation rentals lie at the eastern end. The central location of Callander and the surrounding Rob Roy Country is a perfect holiday base from which to sail on the historic steamship the ss Sir Walter Scott on Loch Katrine in the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, or walk or cycle in the Queen Elizabeth Forest Park. Watch, or participate in Seaplane flying, water-skiing, wakeboarding and other watersports such as jet skiing, canoeing, kayaking, sailing and fishing for salmon, trout and brown trout on Loch Earn. Accommodation in the Callander and Loch Earn area, near the Perth shire border with Stirlingshire, is popular with anglers and also climbers climbing the Munros and Corbetts.
